Arise! and face the demons
Donald P. Goodman III
Version 1.0,
Arise! and face the demons that assault the soul:
the monsters that e'er loom like stormclouds o'er the mind
and multiply the more the spirit they can bind,
exacting ever heavier and dearer toll;
and gnawing rats that over heart and spirit swarm
and strip great chunks of flesh with tiny, nibbling maws
and pick apart the victim with their grasping claws,
a nightmare masquerading as a minor storm.
Arise! for One alone has made you, One alone
allowed the storms to gather and the rats to gnaw,
has made the rock against which storm and rats are thrown,
the rock which stands wheree'er its mighty Maker's known!
