I See the Spinning Stars
Donald P. Goodman III
Version 1.0,
I see the spinning stars and worlds in th' crystal sky,
all marking out their long-appointed sacred ways,
and heedless of the pleas of those who question, "Why?
O, why must heaven spin as 't has in latter days,
and not how I would wish it?" Still, around they turn,
the universe together, as it's always been;
by look, they are indiff'rent, neither scorn nor yearn;
regardless of our protestations, so they spin.
So often men their hate of them will loudly say,
condemn them for their heedlessness of good and sin;
But ne'ertheless, the world unfolds howe'er it may,
and we must know the stars will take their proper way.
