Dozenal Matters
Dozenal means "base twelve," in the same way that binary means "base two" and octal means "base eight." However, dozenal is a bit different from all of these. Binary, octal, hexadecimal, and so forth are primarily intended for, and used by, computers; they are powers of two, and so are uniquely suitable for computers. Dozenal, on the other hand, is intended for use by people, the same way that decimal is.
Below, you'll find a few links that expose the various aspects of dozenal mathematics---counting, arithmetic, measurement, and so forth.
- Dozenal Society of America: The quintessential source of information. The DSA has been in existence for over six dozen (60, or in decimal 72) years, and has a huge wealth of information about the topic available for free at its website.
- Adventures in Dozenalism: My own personal website on dozenal matters. This site and the DSA site are the reasons that this section of my site is so small: they contain so much information that I don't need to duplicate here.
